Your Stick Lie will have everything to do with your height and skating style, not to mention your posture and natural hand positions. Most common lies are numbered between 4-7. You may need to change your stick lie if you notice tape wear on the bottom of your blade in specific areas. If you see the tape is more worn closer to the toe of the blade, then you should increase the lie to a higher number. If the tape is more worn closer to the heel of the blade, then you should lower the lie number. Your goal is to have your stick blade remain flat on the ice as often as possible with the tape wearing out evenly across the full length of the blade.
