About Kris Beech
As a kid, I fell in love with athletics. There’s nothing like the feeling of entering that flow state set off by testing the limits of one’s ability and overcoming challenges faced in the sporting environment. But as I advanced further up the competitive latter, I initiated an unhealthy performance mindset. I unknowingly encouraged negative thought and behavioral patterns through adolescence which grew stronger as my hockey career advanced. Those moments of entering flow, where everything just clicked on the ice happened less frequently.
What I’ve learned is that it doesn’t matter what one does; whether it’s suiting up for a game, studying, or stepping into the office, flow occurs when human performance is an expectation. How we navigate the waves of meeting those expectations are critical to our well being and ultimately consistent performance. The road I traveled to the NHL and beyond led me through many experiences of success and adversity that help me communicate the benefits of mindfulness training. It is a proactive skill that contributes to a resilient mindset and helps you put your best foot forward in any situation. I’m driven to deliver the fundamentals of mindfulness opening the minds of others to the importance of being proactive and taking good care of the mental game.
